This week we started building our transport mechanism after planning it out last week. We weren't able to finish, but we did start building the rails and the cart. We thought the rails would be extremely easy to make, but in practice this wasn't the case. we decided to only put rails on the ramp, not the flat area of the terrain, but the problem was keeping the rails in place. Our go-to method in normal conditions would've been super glue, but because we had turf on our terrain, this wasn't possible. We had to make holes through the turf and the wood in order to put string through them and tie down the rails. This sounded simple enough at first, but as our CEO Teddy Lawrence can attest, it was an extremely draining process. As for the cart, we bought a small toy car to use, but it turned out not to be as easy to work with as we thought. It's relatively tall, which meant its center of gravity was higher than we'd hoped, and it was quite unstable (even more so with the moai on top of it). Also, its weight wasn't very well distributed, which meant we couldn't just place the moai on top however we wished to do so. We came up with the idea of putting the moai in a small cardboard box filled with cotton balls to ensure it didn't get damaged. We also decided we would be able to open one of the sides of the box in order to use it as a ramp to move the moai onto the ramp. We were satisfied with this method, but would later realize it would be much more difficult to put to action than we anticipated.
